Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves inserting small, sterile needles into different points along the body to activate nerve fibers. These needles cause stimuli that help to balance nerve signaling from the acupuncture point to the central and autonomic nervous system centers. The therapy can be targeted based on each pet’s specific needs and areas of concern. Due to the size of the needles, most pets feel very minimal discomfort, with many not noticing the needles once they’re inserted. Each session is 30-minutes and owners are welcome to stay in the room while the acupuncture takes place. Because every pet is different, acupuncture may need to be performed multiple times for maximum benefit.

Dr. Upchurch completed an intensive medical acupuncture course in 2019 and performs all of the acupuncture procedures at Beach Pet Hospital. She provides the one on one focus that directly impacts and improves your pet’s comfort and health using this integrative medicine technique.
